Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej

Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej is the Chairman of the Board of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, USA. Mr. Godrej also The President of India conferred on Mr. Godrej the “Padma Bhushan” on 3rd April 2003

Mr. Godrej is the former Chairman of Ananta Aspen Centre (previously known as Aspen Institute India), Chairman & Trustee of Ananta Centre. He is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, India Resources Trust and Council on Energy, Environment and Water. He is a Director of ClimateWorks Foundation and World Resources Institute, USA. He is a Trustee of World Wide Fund for Nature – India. He is also a Trustee of the Asia Society, USA. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society. He is the Past President of Confederation of Indian Industry and also the Past President of the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association.

Mr. Godrej is the Chairman of the CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre. The Centre is housed in a LEED Platinum demonstration building which is the first green building in India and the greenest building in the world at the time when it was rated. The Green Business Centre is a Centre of Excellence for green buildings, energy efficiency, energy conservation, non-conventional energy sources, water policy, water conservation, etc.

Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. manufactures and markets refrigerators; washing machines; air conditioners; office furniture; home furniture; security equipment for banks (such as safes, strong room doors, bank lockers, etc.) and for commercial establishments and homes; locks and latches, forklift trucks and warehousing equipment; process equipment for chemical, petrochemical, refineries and allied industries; precision tools for sheet metal, zinc, aluminium; real estate development.

The Godrej group are leaders in home appliances, consumer durables, office equipment, industrial products, consumer products and services.

Mr. Godrej is an ardent yachting enthusiast and has done extensive cruising along the west coast of India, the Baltic & North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea.

Mrs. Ketaki V. Sheth

Mrs. Ketaki V. Sheth is an award-winning international photographer whose works reside in many museums around the world. She is also the managing trustee of the Vasant J Sheth Memorial Foundation which focusses on maritime history, education and health. (www.vasantshethFoundation.org) She lives and works in Mumbai.

Mr. Nadir B. Godrej

Mr. Nadir B. Godrej is the Chairman and Managing Director of Godrej Industries Ltd. Mr. Godrej is also the Chairman of Godrej Agrovet Ltd. He holds a Master of Science degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has been a Director of several Godrej companies since 1977 and has developed the animal feed, agricultural inputs and chemicals businesses of Godrej Industries and other associate companies, and has been very active in research.

Mr. Godrej’s outside commitments include: President of Alliance Française de Bombay, and CII National Council, Member. He is also a member of the South Asia Research Centre Advisory Board of Harvard Business School and is associated with MIT Alumni Association of India, and Stanford University. Mr. Godrej is also a member on the Schulich India Advisory Council.

Mr. Godrej has been awarded Chevalier de Legion d'Honneur and Life Time Achievement Award from: Globoil, OTAI – Oil Technology Association of India, Chemexcil , AILBIEA - The All India Liquid Bulk Importers and Exporters Association and also Chemtech CEW Leadership and Excellence Award. He also received the Porter Prize 2013 for Creating Shared Value awarded to Godrej Industries Ltd.

Mr. Godrej is deeply committed to the GOOD and GREEN strategies and achievement of set targets for the Godrej Group. He encourages and supports a shared vision value for all programs of Good and Green.

Mr. Vijay K. Sheth

Mr. Vijay K. Sheth has been the Founder Trustee since the FMR’s inception in 1975. Vijay completed his masters from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila (Philippines) in 1981 and received the Triple-A (Academic Achievement Award) from the Institute in 1993. At present his new venture Great United Energy Pvt Ltd. is operating a platform supply Vessel on a long-term charter with ONGC.

Vijay is the son of Dr. Kantilal J. Sheth who started the Worli General Hospital a 60 bed hospital predominantly for the poor in 1954. It was after his death, that the hospital was converted into a research centre the FMR. The building has been named in his memory.

Vijay completed his Schooling from Cathedral & John Connon in 1970. On completion of his graduation from Sydenham College in 1975, he went for a year to Oslo to train in various aspects of Shipping and Offshore.

Vijay was associated with his family business at Great Estern Shipping Company for over 3 decades. He has focused on the offshore side which grew multifold under him. He pioneered the development of the Oil Field Services and opened up opportunities for national ownership of Rigs, Offshore Support Vessels, Construction Barges and Harbour Tugs.

Dr. Nerges Mistry

Dr. Nerges Mistry is the Director and Trustee of The Foundation for Medical Research, Mumbai and The Foundation for Research in Community Health, Pune. A microbiologist and immunologist by training from the University of Mumbai and The University of Birmingham, U.K, Dr. Mistry’s work encompasses infectious diseases with a recent focus on the molecular epidemiology of multidrug resistance tuberculosis and the mechanisms of acquisition of rapid drug resistance in tuberculosis and its public health implications.

Her recent work in Mumbai based on her basic findings impinge on establishment of infection control measures and the examination of linkages between TB diabetes and air pollution in Mumbai’s slums. Dr. Mistry is also currently engaged in a Gates Foundation sponsored study on Pathways to Care of TB patients in Mumbai and Patna which will serve as a pointer for intervention approaches with private providers. She is a member of the Mumbai Alliance against tuberculosis and has participated in a number of advocacy measures in the recent past.

In the field of community medicine, Dr. Mistry has had experience in the development of a community based health care system and intervention research in the management of drinking water in rural communities. A recent undertaking is the correlation of water quality and climate change in rural communities from drought prone areas. She has had considerable experience in development and evaluation of community based health care systems in rural areas particularly in the field of diabetes and NCDs and is a strong votary for a career path for primary care workers and the induction of quality care in public health system in rural areas. The FRCH along with NICE International UK is currently examining guidelines for safe maternity management and perspectives of their use in 5 Indian states.

Dr. Mistry has over 103 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been a principal investigator of over 42 major projects. Her recent projects reflect a combination of biosocial approach to problems. Dr. Mistry was awarded the Heiser Fellowship from the USA for her postdoctoral research work which she undertook at the University of Oslo in 1984-1986. Dr. Mistry has held advisory positions in the University of Mumbai and academic institutes in Mumbai like Cancer Research Institute (CRI) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). She is a guide for post-graduate degrees in Applied Biology from the University of Mumbai and has guided 11 post-graduate and doctoral research students. She is also a member of the ASHA Mentoring Group of the National Rural Health Mission ever since its inception and has been on the Advisory Group for Community Processes and Traditional Medicine for the 11th and 12th Five Year Plan, Govt. of India. . She also serves as an Expert on the Global Coalition Against Tuberculosis (GCAT) and is an Advisor to the TB PPM Learning Network and was also a member of the National Technical Expert Group on Diagnosis of TB under NTEP.
